It's 2020 and These are The Outdated Jewelry Trends You Need to Avoid
Posted on:
2020's just a couple of weeks away. What's that mean? It's time to start thinking of the hottest trends in jewelry and fashion, right? Well, first let's cover a few of the trends that are likely to fall out of style in the new year. Then, you can focus on reassessing your wardrobe. So, what's out?
Black's Out
Blackened metals like rhodium have been popular for a few years now. Although they're not going away entirely, we'll see people shy away from wearing them as often. What's replacing it? Bright hues with a few diamonds or small gems might be a good option. You don't have to get rid of your blackened rings and bracelets just yet. Instead, consider incorporating a few brighter accent pieces to throw into the mix.
Initials are Out
If you wear a pendant with your initial on it, 2020 might be the year where it's not as trendy to do so. This isn't to say you can't or should get rid of your prominent P for Patrick, but consider mixing it up a few days a week. It's likely not something new item jewelers are going to introduce this year, but it's still something you can mix-match with your newer pieces.
Hoops/Huggies
They're simple and women who want to wear earrings without the fuss love them. However, they're dated. And, if you have multiple piercings, huggies don't stand out when you're trying to make a statement. Again, it's not something you have to ditch entirely, but mix it up a bit! Try going with larger hoops and add a statement piece when choosing earrings. At least for the primary/first hole in your ear (if you have multiple piercings), add some pop to make a statement in 2020.
Fabric Chokers
We went back to this 90s trend for a few years, now it's dying out once again. Instead, we're taking a trip back a couple of decades further into the 70s. Replace the fabric with medallions, thicker gold jewelry, and hoops. You can still wear a choker, it's only going to have a different brilliance to it instead of the dated black cloth you've been wearing for a few years.
Jewelry is personal and says a lot about you. You don't have to get rid of the items you love. But, if you want to look your best, and fall in line with the 2020 trends, consider incorporating a few of the new, bolder looks that 2020 will introduce.
