THE WORLD FAMOUS MIAMI ANTIQUE SHOW
Posted on:
New Year, new adventures… and what better way to start the year than attending a world-famous show! For me, this was my third time attending the world famous Miami Antique Show. If you have or haven't heard about it and you are not sure what it entails, the Miami Antique Show is one of, if not, the largest indoor antique and art show across the entire state, if not globally! This show features among the most exquisite and lavish pieces you will probably ever see, including art, décor, furniture, not to forget Jewelry of course! To my surprise, it also attracts a fair share of vintage watch dealers and collectors.
This year's show was especially special not just for me but for the organizers since after a relatively long hiatus of 2 years to be specific, the Show was once again happening at its original home. The break was primarily because the Miami Beach Convention Centre was going through a multi-million dollar renovation. While both the 2018 and 2017 OMBAS (Original Miami Beach Antique Show) maintained its lock on this significant antique market sector by being present at the Miami Fairgrounds, there was a strong aura of excitement since the 4-day event was taking place at the refurbished, ultra-modern facility, and at its original home to add.
I was utterly dazed with the number of antique pieces, mostly jewelry I came across. I even tried on a bracelet that was once under the possession of a queen (can’t stop wishing I would have taken a picture of it)!
Although I was slightly bumped since I didn't come across as much gold or silver-filled jewelry as I initially expected, the total number of stunning collectible pieces in platinum and gold surely was not disappointing. Even so, if you are planning to attend the next show, first ensure that you carry comfortable shoes not to mention making sure you allocate yourself ample time to explore the whole building. The entry fee is just below $30 and covers the entire duration of the show, although if you are acquainted with any dealers showcasing their products there, you can be lucky to get a free pass!
In my tour, what I found to be the most imposing booths at the event were one that belonged to Bob Maron (which features a massive case packed with Day-Dates and Daytonas) together with another belonging to Matthew Bain (where I got to view the remarkable antique AP triple date plus the 3970P which were on canvas strap)!
The annual show which ended on 29th January from the 26th was justly incredible. In fact, I can proudly proclaim that the show was easily the most entertaining one of the few I have had the chance to attend. Can’t wait for the next one!
