For those fluent in French, Hublot’s name comes from the French word meaning “porthole”. And when, in 1976 Carlo Crocco left the Italian Binda Group, best known for making Breil watches, to make his own watch company, it was in hopes that this “porthole” would show him a calm sea and a brighter future.
